#23 - The American Hotel
On this site was first a blacksmith shop owned and operated by George Greenzweig. Edwin & Eugene Greenzweig also worked at the shop.
Around 1903, the Kunkletown Hotel, operated by Reuben Frable and his family, was located here.
Then, it became the Greenzweig Hotel and then the American Hotel & Bar. In 2004, the bar was still open, but the hotel portion stopped functioning.
When the hotel closed in 2011, a mother and daughter team bought it and opened it as a restaurant called the Jupiter Restaurant. They primarily served Polish food, but only lasted a few years.
In 2013, the Kunkletown Pub at Buckwha Inne was opened by Gretchen Gannon Pettit.
The current building dates back to 1938.
